Transformnation
The Cultural Impact Ministry of Living Stones Church
The Mandate
The cultural impact team is committed to bringing a biblical worldview perspective to social and cultural issues while defending our faith, our families and our freedom.
Our scriptural mandate is clear:
Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Luke 11:2,3).” The role of God’s people is to bring heaven to earth. This involves the application of kingdom principles to every arena of life.
The final commission out of the mouth of our risen Lord involved the preaching of the gospel to the whole world, resulting in the discipling of entire nations (Matthew 28:18-20).
The earth belongs to the Lord (Psalm 24:1) and Jesus is the ruler of the Kings of the earth (Revelation 1:5). Our mission is to declare the good news of the gospel, that “our God reigns” (Psalm 97:1), with the vision of seeing salvation and cultural transformation in our cities, state and nation.
The Mission
Transformnation is a non-partisan information center providing resources that promote good government according to Biblical principles without any political party affiliation. This ministry is designed to inform you of the latest events and legislative activity that may affect our faith, families or freedoms. You will find many helpful links and downloads that will give you insight and understanding to current issues.
While it is the Lord who sets up kingdoms and removes them according to his own purpose and pleasure (Daniel 2:21), He has given us the responsibility to be actively involved in government as both a God-given and God-created institution. Jesus commanded us to be salt and light in our culture (Matthew 5:13), and the Apostle Paul admonished us to pray for those in authority over us so that we might live peaceable lives (I Timothy 2:1,2).
Three Reasons for Christian Involvement in Civil Government:
- Christians share the same civic duties as other citizens – jury duty, paying taxes, and voting for candidates they believe are best qualified.
- As citizens of the Kingdom of God Christians are to bring God’s standards of righteousness and justice to bear on the kingdoms of this world.
- Christians have the obligation to bring transcendent moral values into the public debate.
Cultural Impact Team Commitments:
The Cultural Impact Team is committed to the following principles of Christian citizenship:
• pray for government (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
• pay for government (Romans 13:1-7)
• praise government (1 Peter 2:17)
• preach to government (Ephesians 4:15)
• participate in government (1 Peter 2:13-15)
Write Your Representative
In the United States we have a representative government which is defined as, "a form of government in which citizens delegate authority to elected representatives." It has been estimated that one letter to a congressman or senator represents 1,000 constituents who agree with the writer but did not take time to correspond with their legislator. One person can make a difference!
The following are some guidelines to consider when writing to your legislators:
- Include your purpose for writing in the first paragraph. If it concerns a bill, include the specific number if you know it.
- Address one issue per letter and keep it to one page.
- Be polite and concise, including key information supporting your position.
- When communicating via email, follow the above guidelines and put the message topic or bill number in the subject line. Include your name and full address at the top of the email.
- Since regular mail to the U.S. Capitol does not reach offices very quickly, e-mailing lawmakers' D.C. offices, or mailing or e-mailing their district offices is most effective.
- Write thank-you notes to support your representatives when you approve of their stance.
Even more effective is a personal phone call or visit. If you wish to visit you legislator, make an appointment. Bring materials that support your postition. Schedule appointments with your U.S. Congressmen in their district offices.
There are other ways to get involved. Attend "town hall" meetings. Write op-ed and letters-to-the-editor of your local newspapers. Encourage others to be involved.
