GAAPnet
Global Adopt-A-People Network (GAAPnet) began in 1989 as Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse at the US Center of World Mission in Pasadena, Calif. Over 40 mission organizations joined forces with the purpose of: providing a serving clearinghouse for churches worldwide, housing the latest information on remaining unreached people groups (UPGs), and identifying who was working among them. Pastor Dick Bashta has directed this organization since 1999; it is currently housed at Living Stones Church.
Briefly stated, the purpose of GAAPnet is to serve the local churches worldwide with updated information on the remaining UPGs, a listing of who is working among them, and what networks currently exist around specific countries and people groups. This information is shared securely and freely to foster greater cooperation in the great commission.
How does it work? On a daily basis, churches contact us by phone or email with requests on how to adopt a specific UPG, who else is working among a specific UPG, or what networks exist around a specific country or people group. We house a unique database that contains this information that enables us to send back printed reports (after clear security measures are completed). We also work closely with Joshua Project to register people group adoptions and provide on-site local church coaching on how to adopt an unreached people group for church planting.
